Configuration Manager - Client Maintenance Window

  • I am trying to find a way from the client side to see what the client thinks its Collection/Maintenance Window is.

I see that there is a report from the server side. but I have clients that are in the correct Collection on the server but these clients were moved from a collection and are still patching/restarting on their old Collection MW.

  • What I have found is that this client (and others) were in a Collection with a MW of Third Wednesday 1AM - 3AM.

This server was moved to a Collection with a MW of Monday 10PM-11:59PM.

The server is still following the original MW of Wednesday and not Monday.

We base our collections on Security Groups, the servers is in the Security Group for Monday and is listed in the Monday Collection in Config Manager.

But, it is getting updates installed, on Wednesday.

  • Clients do not know what collection they are part of, they simply know what "things" are targeted at them.

Maintenance windows -- like nearly everything else client side -- are stored in WMI. MWs are stored in CCM_ServiceWindow:

Additionally, any changes you make in the console for the site won't be reflected on the client until it updates its machine policy which may take up to 60 minutes (depending on whether you are using the default or not).

What exactly does this mean? Where are you seeing this or getting it from?
