windows defender not responding RRS feed

    My windows defender not responding, as it starts updating but stops in between. It continuous to show 'searching' as long as I keep it on.

    It does not turn 'on'

  • Since when this problem started?

    Have you tried updating Windows?

    Restart your PC and try again.

    Are there any failed update in Update history (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Update\View Update History)
    or are there any error messages recorded in the Event Viewer (Windows Logs\Setup, Applications, System)?

    Try to check for updates manually (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Update\Check for Updates).
    Run the built-in troubleshoot tool to have a diagnostic.
    Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\System and Security\Fix problem with windows update

    Open an administrator and run the command “sfc /scannow” to check the health of system files.
