Internal virtual switch NIC adapter details for Linux guests? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

For some of our needs, we need to run a small Linux VM. In our current VirtualBox setup, this VM runs with the "VirtualBox Host Only Network Adapter", and from there, we can choose the adapter VirtualBox will emulate.

We want to switch to Hyper-V and the problem is when I create the internal virtual switch, I can't choose any hardware emulation, so our Linux VM doesn't see any network adapter.

Can someone know how to fix this? Running a normal external switch is not an option in this case, this VM must be kept inside the host network only.

    Thanks.

  • What version of Linux are you running? Most modern distributions will have the paravirtualized drivers for Hyper-V that should see any virtual switch, internal, external, or private.

  • Hi Josh.

Thanks. You're right, this is a pretty old, outdated, Puppy Linux. We should switch to a more modern one.

    Thanks.
