White space in an inserted signature turns pink after resize and save RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a signature file that is a .tiff file.  I've been using this particular .tiff for signing documents for years.  However I've recently found that if I resize the signature once it's been inserted (using Insert --> Picture) into the document and then save the document, the white space around the signature turns pink when the file is reopened, and I can't get rid of it.  If I leave the picture alone it seems to have no problems.  It seems Word is doing something to the file when it resizes it.  Any ideas?

  • It might be because tiff files maintain layers of information and Word is somehow misinterpreting some info as it tries to resize each layer.  Try saving the tiff file as a png file and verify the results.

  • Thanks Rich, I gave that and try and so far so good, I haven't been able to reproduce the problem.  I guess Word doesn't like TIFF files very much.  Thanks again.
