Project Server Scale-Out vs High Availability RRS feed

  • Question

  • PS 2010 installed in a Large-Farm question:

If I turn on the Project Application Service on a second server in my farm, will this help distribute the workload, or is it more for failover purposes?  Or both?

    Thanks in advance

Yes, it will distribute workload and serve as a failover server too. You need to also make sure that SQL server can handle this additional load. Project Server queue thread settings plays vital role in multiple application server deployment. Consider a scenario currently queue thread settings is set to 4 and if you have 3 application servers running with Project Server Application service , effective number threads will be 4x3=12 hence SQL server should be capable of handling these additional threads. It is highly recommended not to modify default queue thread settings without proper testing.

    Hope this helps
