Your question is ambiguous. A mailmerge main document links to the data source. The 'recipient data' would come from there. Once you execute the merge, the output doesn't link back to the datasource unless you've put something into the document itself to
make it do so.
If you're asking whether you can prevent someone using a mailmerge main document with a different data source, the answer is No. There are things you might do to make it more difficult, but someone could still simply copy the content from the mailmerge main
document, paste it into another document, then connect that document to a different data source.
