Project Server 2010 Migration - Project Web Access Provisioning Failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I am currently migrating PS2007 to PS2010 at a client site.

Migration process of attaching ContentDBs and Restoring Core DBs were successful.

There were no upgrade errors, but when I tried to provision PWA wih the restored DBs, I got this error 'Failed to create the Report Centre Web'.

    SP: RTM version is 14.0.4763.1000

I started all over again and provisioned another PWA before migration and it was successful so there is something wrong with my contentDB, but the error I get doesn't related to anything in PS2007 ContentDB. There isn't a ProjectBICentre in PS2007 so not sure what I am doing wrong.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

ULS has this key information (from my point of view):

error Provisioning did not succeed. Details: Failed to initialize some site properties for Web at Url: "<clientURL>/PWA/ProjectBICenter' OriginalException: One or more field types are not installed properly. Go to the list settings page to delete these fields. 0x240d9ca0        ff6cb75a-d26c-436f-8a1d-

  • No, that wouldn't have been helpful if I reffered to it. I logged a call with MS and the Project Server Engineers resolved this for me.

  • I suspect some probelm with the existing site collection.

Do you have any customized "site features" or "solution" applied on the 2007 site collection?

Did you have SSRS reports integrated with the existing PWA site collection?

I assume you moved another PWA from 2007 to 2010, it worked fine.  So there is no problem with 2010 environment, Right?

Can you check the pages created in your 2007 site collection? (may be a name conflict with ProjectBICenter)

  • Thank you Sriram and aplogies for the delayed response...

After some investigation, I managed to resolve this issue, but I am now faced with another issue...PWA Provisioing now fails in Project Server if I attach the contentDB. Please note contentDB attachment process was successful. The core dbs migrated successfully and provisioned an instance successfully.

You mentioned customised features before. We do have a custom project workspace, but I assume if this was causing the issue then the ContentDB attachment process would have failed...

I am just going through App logs and ULS to find more about it, but any suggested resolutions are welcome :-)

  • Hello all,

Is there any further info you guys need to assist me with this issue?? As mentioned before ULS provided the same info as above.

    Thanks!

  • Does this help SJ?  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff730237.aspx.  It appears to match your symptoms.  Also does this occur for new PWA sites or just against your existing DBs?

    Best regards,

    Brian.

  • So What was the issue?

  • The major issue was SQL Server. We had a number of DBs with status not responding. We had to basically start from scratch. It was a nightmare, but all good now. Upgrade happened succesfully and client was happy.
