Graphic card or bios?

Question

Hello,
I am having a very weird problem and would like to know the causes of that:
So I have a toshiba a100 satellite pro with a 1,55 (x2) Ghz processor core 2 duo that I upgraded with a 2,66GHz, so far so good. After a year or so, my graphic cards burned out (nvidia GeForce Go7600 256Mb) so i bought another one (nvidia Geforce Go7300 128mb) with less performance. It worked all fine until a couple of weeks ago when the screen started to turns blank from alone and comes back on. Then after a couple of days it turned completely black. So i connected the laptop to an external diplay and could see the windows desktop pn the external display. So i figured out that i needed a new graphic card. I bought a used one but this time just like the original i had (nvidia geforce go7600 256Mb). Everything was great and i upgraded my graphic card driver. HOWEVER, since last week, when i turn on my laptop, the screen is completely black (or actually doesnt light up at all) until it enters the windows 7 welcome screen where i can see everything and work on my laptop normally. So i thought it might be from my windows and wanted to format my laptop, howewer how to format it if i cant see anything on the screen when i turn on my laptop even when i click f12 or f8 or delete!!!. I connected it to an external monitor, still the same problem, cant see a thing at the beginning until it enters windows then everything works fine. So i took out my Hard drive and connected it externally to a computer and formatted the windows drive on my hdd. Put the hd back into my laptop, turned the laptop on, nothing happened. Connected it to an external monitor and clicked on the "Laptop display/external monitor" key and suddenly on both monitor something appeared: no operating system found....
Finally something!!! so i booted from my windows dvd, formatted the drive again from the windows setup and installed windows 7. I even downloaded the updated and the laptop asked me to restart.
AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN!! but this time when i restarted my laptop the screen was all the time black!!!!!!!!!!!! nothing at all, no windows screen, no boot screen, no bios screen, even when i connect it to an external monitor, nothing happens, totally black.
The question is what could went wrong? is it from the graphic card, from the hard drive, an update for the bios is needed or the motherboard? what could it be? I definitely know its not the RAM because I tested other ones and it didnt solve the problem...
I would appreciate any help!

You need to have some hardware diagnostics run on your laptop to determine if the graphics is defective and needs to be replaced. This does not sound like a Windows problem. It sounds like a hardware problem.
Either contact Toshiba or find a computer repair shop for assistance with hardware diagnostics.

So I was able to reformat my laptop and install a fresh version of windows 7 and the driver needed for my graphic card. Unfortunately the problem persists: whenI turn my laptop on, the screen is black and then as soon as it enters the windows welcome screen 'I can see everything normally... So I guess its the graphic cards that is playing tricks on me...Friday, January 31, 2014 6:39 AM
