MDT Wizard - Skip unwanted deployment pages RRS feed

  • Question

  • Guys, I'm trying to skip unwanted deployment pages in my MDT Wizard. It seems the very first screen works, but once I click NEXT, the entire list of pages are showing and it makes me walk through each one.

    I minimized my Bootstrap.ini and CustomSettings.ini

    I only want to show the following pages;

    1. Task Sequence Page
    2. Computer Details Page
    3. Local and Time Page
    4. Ready  Page

    But for some reason after I click the Task Sequence, I receive this list. Then I have to go to each page without the ability to skip.

    1. Welcome Page
    2. Network Credentials Page
    3. Task Sequence Page
    4. Computer Details Page
    5. Mover  data and settings Page
    6. User Data (Restore) Page
    7. Local and Time Page
    8. Capture image Page
    9. Ready  Page

    Customsettings.ini and Bootstrap.ini

    [Settings]
    Priority=Default

    [Default]
    SkipBDDWelcome=NO
    SkipTaskSequence=NO
    SkipComputerName=YES
    SkipDomainMembership=YES
    SkipUserData=YES
    SkipComputerBackup=YES
    SkipProductKey=YES
    SkipPackageDisplay=YES
    SkipLocaleSelection=NO
    SkipTimeZone=NO
    SkipRoles=YES
    SkipApplications=YES
    SkipAdminPassword=YES
    SkipAdminAccounts=YES
    SkipCapture=YES
    SkipBitLocker=YES
    SkipSummary=YES

  • Hi

    If it is the Deployment task sequence you want to ship this is the parameters:

    SkipTaskSequence=YES
    TaskSequenceID=%TaskSequenceID%

    Change %TaskSequenceID% to your unik Task SequenceID

    The reason you get more wizard pages when you select a Task Sequence is that the process is reading your task sequence and it need input.

    My Customsettings.ini looks like this an it total unattend

    [Settings]
    Priority=Default
    [Default]
    _SMSTSORGNAME=OSDDEPLOYMENT.DK
    OSInstall=Y
    SkipAppsOnUpgrade=YES
    SkipAdminPassword=YES

  • Maybe the toolkit reference will help you https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn781091.aspx#ProvidingPropertiesforSkippedDeploymentWizardPages

    It will show you which properties you need to provide if you're going to skip a wizard page

  • If you want certain pages skipped you not only have to use the skip property but you need to answer the necessary items for that page.

    For example

    SkipLocaleSelection=YES
    KeyboardLocale=en-US
    UserLocale=en-US
    UILanguage=en-US
    SkipTimeZone=YES
    TimeZoneName=Central Standard Time
    TimeZone=020

  • PER has a point. It seems part of it is in the TS. The list Dan sent shows the items, but it seems I also have to go into the TS and remove some items. That's how I was able to remove "USER DATA" Deployment Page.

    If you guys know how I can remove the other three. Would be much appreciated. I'm trying a lot of things and nothing seems to work.

    • Move Data and Settings
    • Roles and Features
    • Bitlocker

  • The page Dan posted has all the details

    Logs are very important. https://keithga.wordpress.com/2014/10/24/video-mdt-2013-log-files-basics-bdd-log-and-smsts-log/ Mention any customizations you have made.

  •  I am trying to make the same configuration you are. You have added the contents of your Customsettings.ini. What commands are you adding to the Bootstrap.ini file?

    Thank you.

  • I have the Microsoft time zone list, but I don't see a time zone for 020. I want to set eastern standard time. What is Timezone=020?

    [Settings]

    Priority=Default

    [Default]
    DeployRoot=\\MDT01\MDTProduction$
    UserDomain=CONTOSO
    UserID=MDT_BA

  • Thank you for the help. I am really new to this and I don't understand all the commands. I will try your configuration today. My question is, what pages will your configuration hide? What is the MDTProduction$  command? Is that the name of the deployment share?

    Thank you.
