Where are SharePoint 2013 OOB workflows?

Question
-
I have configured the Windows Workflow platform on my SP 2013 farm, and I can create 2013 workflows in SharePoint Designer 2013. But when I try to add an Out-Of-The-Box workflow to a list from the Workflow Settings page, I can't see any 2013 workflow templates. All the templates have asterisks beside them, indicating that they are 2010 workflow templates. I have read about various SharePoint 2013 OOB workflows, but Google doesn't say anything about how to make them visible on the Workflow Settings page. Is there any such thing as a 2013 OOB workflow?

None of the Out of the box workflows have been re-written to use the new 2013 engine. Not sure what workflows you've read about that are supposed to be 2013. To the best of my knowledge there aren't any OOB workflows that use the 2013 workflow engine.

It's been almost 2 years since that answer was posted, but the Microsoft web sites continue to have references to SP 2013 reusable workflow templates. For example, on this page:
Were these templates developed after Nov 2013? Or are the references inaccurate?

If you have Workflow Manager installed and registered with the farm then you can create reusable 2013 workflows using either SharePoint designer or Visual Studio. The original question was about out of the box workflows written for 2013, not workflow templates.
