  • Question

  • Hi Experts,

One of customer raised the below question:

Existing setup that they are working on:

    • Single Domain, Lync 2013 housed within the Domain, Exchange in same Domain
    • Hybrid created to Office 365 SfBO
    • Azure AD Connect and ADFS for SSO deployed

IT is to be split out from the Domain to its own Forest and Domain

    Customer wants to

    • Phase 1 – Allow users to access the Lync 2013 on premise in a resource Domain model (We are happy with that and the associated mapping – all tested in labs)
    • Phase 2 – To transition those services up to SfB Online (this is the part we are not sure on whether or not it is supported)

Please can anyone tell us if the phase 2 work is supported. The technet documentation we have read is not clear on the support standpoint.

    Many thanks.

  • Hi SBHV,

    Welcome to our forum.

By my understanding, you want to migrate Lync sever 2013 resource forest to Office 365 in Phase 2. If that, it is supported, we could refer to the following link:

  • Hi Jim,

Thank you for your inputs. But still, I need more clarity here.

Our customer know that they can migrate from resource forest to O365. What they actually need to know is the Lync 2013 resource/user forest on premise model supported with O365? E.g. two forests talking directly to O365, however only one forest has Lync 2013 deployed. The other forest (IT) is purely users who are utilizing Lync services from the resource forest.

    Please advise. Many thanks.
