SCCM 2012 and 2007 coexistance

Question
-
We currently have SCCM 2007 deployed in our domain and functioning good, the main use of it is the remote tools. I want to install SCCM 2012 to coexist with 2007.in the first step I want to test it without compromising the current setup if it works fine i will remove the 2007. is that possible to have them both operating in the same domain? and how will the 2012 console connect to 2007 client(like if the help desk guy uses 2012 console and want to connect to users with the 2007 client).Friday, September 25, 2015 4:27 PM

As long as you don't have overlapping boundaries for site assignment, that should work without affecting your productive ConfigMgr 2007 Environment.
Your clients can only be assigned to one site at a time, so you need to move them to the new Site when you hit production with the 2012 (R2) Environment.

Also, for this question "and how will the 2012 console connect to 2007 client" the answer is it can't. The console never connects to clients so not sure what you're asking. Ultimately though, the consoles are separate and can only manage the version they were installed from. Thus, the 2012 console can *only* manage a 2012 site and the 2007 console can *only* manage a 2007 site. If someone needs to perform admins tasks in both site versions, they must have both consoles installed.
