Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using a Toshiba Satellite running Windows XP with service pack 2.   I have never encountered any issues in the few years running this machine. Then... today I have lost audio on my machine. When booting up I got a message "Warning: Windows can not find volume control."

Under device manager there is a bright yellow exclamation mark next to:  Microsoft UAA bus drive for high definition audio.  Driver version:

Under device status it states "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

It seems like all I need is to re-load the driver...  but I can not seem to locate it.  I found a hotfix    ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111) but unsure if this is what I need to install or if it will make matters worse.

    Could someone help me out?
