SQL Server 2008 Release Date RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

Does anyone know if there is an offical release date for Sql Server 2008 yet?
Is it likely to be in a couple of months or towards the end of the year?
I;m thinking about doing some training on SQL Server and was wondering if its worth waiting for 2008 to be released or to do 2005 and then an upgrade for 2008.

  • The official answer is in the third quarter in 2008.

As for when in Q3 there is a hint in the fact that MS towards the end of February announced the first results
of TPC-benchmarks for SQL 2008. For such results to be valid, the product must be released within six
months. Thus, a target date is around Aug 25th, but this is pure speculation on my part.

  • Thanks, I think I'll go with the 2005 certification then do the update later.
