Firefox takes a long time to launch with EAF+ enabled RRS feed

  • Question

  • With EAF+ mitigation enabled in EMET 5.2, Firefox (latest version) takes a long time to launch (more than 10 seconds). Is this a bug in EMET? If so, could someone report this issue to Microsoft?

  • This has been reported on the Microsoft Connect website.

It is reported as fixed there. EMET 5.5 beta claims that improvements have been made to EAF+. I've not been able to verify this yet. For me, the performance hit seem to vary between machines.

The Connect feedback gives the following workaround for earlier versions.

The module xul.dll in EAF+ is "causing" the slow start. If you remove the module from the list (keep only mozjs.dll) Firefox starts without delay
