DNS Servers are failing Recursive lookup RRS feed

    Hello all,

    To Start off, I have 3 AD controllers.  All three were Windows Server 2008 32-bit Standard.  I recently completely replaced ( but changed the name and IP back to what it was) our DC2.  I used the Netdom method for doing so without issue.  The new DC2 is now using Windows Server 2008 R2 -64bit Standard.  Ever since then when I go to test DNS resolution, the Recursive lookup fails.  Now, trying to look up external web sites is starting to fail.  If I set my dns server in NSlookup to google a or b, it works fine.  Where is the first place to start in tracking down DNS lookup and recursion issues.   While I've worked with DNS in the past, I haven't had many issues.

    Hi Daedalus01011,

    Are there any other issues about DNS？　If only recursive query fails, the reason might be Recursion Query has been disabled.　Disable Recursion on the DNS Server

    In addition, it would be great helpful to help to narrow down this issue if you can post the an unedited ipconfig /all and Recursive lookup from your server.
