VDI with Windows Server Essentials RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi.

I was wondering if now that Windows Server 2012 R2 can be host, is it possible to think of a VDI scenario in there?

From a licensing perspective the information available is that only "Essentials" can run in the VOSE but thought maybe that is a limit related to Windows Server and not to Windows Desktop OS.

How's technically doing this, anyone tried? Also considering of course that Essentials runs only on a machine with max 2 CPUs.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

The Hyper-V role and Hyper-V Manager console are now included with Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials.

you can also using the VDI Technology with the Essentials Edition but only if you wants using VDI infrastructure without RDS CALs to have Access to Remote Desktop Gateway for Desktop and application virtualization while the Essentials Edition do not included this Feature for installing RDS cals.

    thanks
