Garbled Text in Russian RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi! I am an employee of a software company. Recently one of our software is adding other language support such as Spanish, Chinese and Russian.

However, our software showed garbled text when the language is switched to Russian, which ONLY happens on the Surface Pro 6.

The operating system is Windows 10 Home English (US) with all the required languages added in the settings. I have also switched the "language for non-Unicode programs" in Region setting to Russian, but it didn't work.

I am really hoping somebody can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Visual Basic 6 did not even support .NET?! So how can this be Windows Forms?
And VB6 controls were not Unicode (only the string class was)

What type of program: is it supporting unicode?
Java, .Net with Windows forms, MFC?
    Can you share a screenshot?

  • Thank you EckiS!

The Windows build number is 17763.253

It is a Visual Basic 6.0 Windows Forms program. It supports unicode.

Currently I cannot post picture due to the forum policy to new members. I will post screenshots as soon as I can.

  • If this issue occurs with Russian only, you can ask on the Russian MSDN forum here.

They surely can offer localization tips.
