Unable to save a file, checkin a file, when the library does not require checkout to be mandatory for editing a file in sharepoint 2007 (MOSS 2007) RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have setup a document library, which does not require the file to be checked out for editing.

So when i access this document using its direct url, and open the file and edit it and when i click "Save" i get "Save As" dialog box.

Is this intended behaviour, of the product?

  • Hi ,

I understand that when you save the document to SharePoint library, the save as dialog box shows. You need to check you settings:

    1. Make sure that you have installed the "Desktop Experience"-feature on the server.
    2. Check whether the web client service have started. Click Start> Administrative tools> Services to check the service status.
    3. When open the document in word, click File>Options>Trust Center>Trust Center Settings> Protected View. Then uncheck all the options. This may take a few minutes to take effects.
