windows live mail send receive interval RRS feed

  • Question

  • win7 ultimate. ie 8. all working well (except for a few dll issues that i am resolving).

    problem:

I can't for the life of me figure out how to set the send/receive interval in windows live.

thinking of migrating from outlook and the default interval (30 minutes) doesn't work for me.

been around on the web and all advice is to go to tools==>options etc.

but that doesn't exist on my computer, now win 7

    can anyone help.

i know i am overlooking something small.

    thank you

  • Hi,
Open Windows Live Mail and select the tools TAB. Then select Options. Under the General Tab you can set that interval.

  • I am totally flummoxed.

i have been searching in the tools tab ==> options

the general tab does not have any such choice.

    there are two tools tabs:

    a. in internet explorer's menu bar
    b. within windowslive.

neither has the choice to set interval.

i know i am missing something.

  • Under the Tools , Options then General tab in Windows Live Mail near the bottom is a choice Under Send and receive Messages to Check for new messages every 30 minutes and this can be changed.

  • Hi,

I hope you have download the latest version of windows live mail i.e (verison 14.0 ) from http://download.live.com/.

In the new windows live mail , send /receive button is now called as "Sync".

You can click the Sync button to send and receive on all accounts. If you have multiple emails accounts, you can also click the down-arrow in order to select just one account to sync.

Sync can be used in three modes

    1)Mail mode

    2)News mode

    3)Feed Mode

You can check the below link in which each mode is explained in detail.

  • first thank you for the reply.
    yes i did.
BUT the whole "live" bucket was downloaded in addition to mail (yes, I just clicked on mail).
Most of that stuff I don't want and additionally the photo subset caused multiple side-by-side errors.
i restored my system with a win7 image.
    the mail worked well.
i'd give it another look if i could install just the mail.
and, one other question, how many contacts are permitted from outlook (hotmail: 1000 limit -- is live mail the same?)?

  • Hi ,

As per my understanding, there is no restriction on number of contacts in windows live mail. You can add as many number of contact as possible.

    Thanks,
