How can I add Junctions to the Default profile for new users? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am trying to figure out how the junctions that are in the "Default" user profile are created for a user when they first log into a computer. I am trying to add a couple of my own. I have created them in the Default profile but, when I log into a test account for the first time, the junctions I created are not copied.

The only information I have been able to find is on MSDN:

    Per-User Junctions and System Junctions - https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb968829(v=vs.85).aspx

Per-user junctions are created inside each individual user's profile...

Per-user junctions are created by the Profile service when the user's profile is created

Because the junctions that I created in the profile are not copied over like other files and folders that can be added, I can only assume that there must be a file or script with a list of junction points for the above mentioned Profile service to create or execute.

    So my questions:

Does anyone know how this is accomplished?

Is it even possible to create junctions in the Default profile for new user profiles?

  • Hi ,

The link you post here is supported for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, there is a possibility that it is not supported for Windows 10.
In Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, the default locations for user data and system data have changed.

Then, I found this similar case, is this also your thread?
