Upgrade Database Server to SqlServer 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have MOSS 2007 on a server and the DB's are SqlServer 2005 DB's and they reside on the same server as the MOSS 2007.

I want to switch my DB's to a SqlServer 2008 DB that is separate from the MOSS server.

Anyone know how this can be achieved?

  • Backup DBs from 2005 SQL server and then restore it on SQL 2008 server

After that disconnect SharePoinr from SQL 2005 and create a new configuration DB on SQL 2008 by connecting SharePoint to new SQL server. (SQL 2008 )

Once you will get Central admin up and running create sites and attach old DBs which you have restored on SQL 2008 from SQL 2005.
