Distribution Architecture of Software Updates RRS feed

  • Question

  • When the Software Update Group is downloaded and distributed across different Distribution Point, which path in the DP does the content get saved into.

This is easily visible for Software package under smspkge$, but not for software update Packages.

Can someone help me with architecture of distribution for Software Updates for patching.

Same as all other content, it's in the Content Library so there is no one explicit path.

This is not correct. Packages are only visible in the smspkgx$ share location if you've chosen to copy them there and there generally is no reason to do this. Packages, like all other content are stored in the Content Library.

What exactly do you want to know here?

  • Hi,

The Software Update Group is just a logic concept used to group updates, the Software Update packages are actually include the update content and distributed to DP. You can find the content location use the method described in this blog or use the Content Library Explorer tool.
