  • is it a  good idea to host a website on virtural servers do they provide enough resources to handle the daily visitors

  • It depends on how many daily visitors your web site has and how your web application is architected. If you are using Azure or AWS then the great benefit of those hosting environments are that the underlying physical resources are massive. You can just spin up another VM, or 2 or 10 and load balance your site across any number of virtual machines. If you are using Hyper-V or VMWare, then you are limited by the physical hosts that your organization has implemented. You may need to go buy additional hardware. Or you may not.  

    In general, the answer is yes, VM's are perfectly fine for hosting a web site. The disclaimer is that you've provided no specific details about number of visitors, how any data is stored, how your site handles session state, back end networking requirements and about a thousand other considerations that would need to be addressed before anyone could give you a definitive answer.
