Fingerprint sign in, not connected to the domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm wondering if it is even possible to use the fingerprint login, while not connected to the domain(e.g. trying to log in from home or the customer)

The error what we're getting is the next one:

"Windows could not use your fingerprint credentials because it could not contact your domain. Try connection to another network."

The policies what we have active are these ones:

    Computer Policies/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Biometrics
    Policy Setting Winning GPO
Allow domain users to log on using biometrics Enabled _A0.1
Allow the use of biometrics Enabled _A0.1
Allow users to log on using biometrics Enabled _A0.1

  • Found the solution!

At first I've sent the GPO containing only "Allow the use of biometrics"
Then I enable fingerprint on a test machine.

Afterwards i added "Allow domain users to log on using biometrics" and "Allow users to log on using biometrics".

The Fingerprint was still only working for "Allow the use of biometrics".
Reconfiguring the PIN and Fingerprint was the solution, all of the GPO settings are working now.
