Increasing Journal Allocation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm trying to increase the Journal size (as recommended by DPM Administrator Console) after a couple of backup failures that required Consistency checks. My problem is this: I open the Modify Disk Allocation from the ribbon, change the allocation from the default 300MB to 500MB click OK and the mmc hangs and shuts down, when I re-open and check allocation it's still 300MB! I've also discovered that if I just click the "Cancel" button on Modify Disk Allocation, it also hangs the mmc and it shuts down...

    Any ideas?

    Very frustrated,

  • Hello Bill,

What version and build of DPM are you currently running?

You could try resizing the replica using the DPM PowerShell cmdlets.

    $ProtectionGroupList = Get-DPMProtectionGroup -DpmServerName (&Hostname)
    $DataSourceList = Get-DPMDatasource -ProtectionGroup $ProtectionGroupList[Index of PG Object from $ProtectionGroupList]
    $SelectedDataSource = $DataSourceList[<index of DS Object from $DataSourceList>]
    Edit-DPMDiskAllocation -DataSource $SelectedDataSource -ReplicaSize <Target Size in BYTES> #IE Bytes=#GB*1024*1024*1024

    Best regards,

  • Leon,

I've tried to reply with a screenshot, but it won't let me until my account is verified...
