2012 R2 64bit. WSUS re-indexing to help performance in Solar Winds. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need to find specific re-indexing instructions for my WSUS.  I run it on a 2012 R 64bit server with solarwinds.  I was recently told that I needed to reindex my WSUS.  Can someone please provide to me specifics on this.

  • Hi,

If you mean re-indexing the SUSDB, please try to use the following script:

    https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/6f8cde49-5c52-4abd-9820-f1d270ddea61

I test it on my WSUS v6.3. It works for me.

    Best Regards.

  • Thank you I was able to run the re-indexing successfully.  However I am still experiencing slowness in my solarwinds patch manager.  Their tech support suggested that I rebuild the Wsus server, Do you have instructions for that?  Thank you so much

Sorry for the delay. Please follow the steps below to re-install the WSUS server:

    1. Remove WSUS, IIS role and WID feature.
    2. Manually remove the WID database file.
    3. Rename Update Services, inetpub folder.
    4. Install the WSUS again.

    Best Regards.
