Error installing Monitoring server on Win2008 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm trying to install Monitoring server on Windows 2008 R2, but when it wants to provision the database the following error comes up:

    11/17/2009 4:45:36 PM SqlServer2005Probe: Evaluated.:Microsoft SQL Server 2005
    11/17/2009 4:45:38 PM SqlServer2005Probe: Checking Passed Status.:Microsoft SQL Server 2005
    11/17/2009 4:45:38 PM
     Checking SQL Server Connectivity.:<servername>
    11/17/2009 4:45:38 PM SqlServer2005Probe: Checking Passed Status.:Microsoft SQL Server 2005
    11/17/2009 4:45:38 PM MonitoringSqlServer2005Probe: Checking Passed Status.:Microsoft SQL Server 2005
    11/17/2009 4:45:38 PM
     Checking SQL Server version.:<servername>
11/17/2009 4:45:38 PM Monitoring database name is empty or invalid.:

Microsoft.PerformancePoint.Setup.Configuration.Monitoring.MonitoringException: Monitoring database name is empty or invalid.
    ConfigErrorCode :10002

I've googled this but no hits on this particular error. I can see in the logs and it does actually connect to the database and lists all the databases, however, no database is created and I'm not able to provision in an existing empty database either. So I'm thinking that even tho I'm using a priviledge account to run the
installation program for some reason it's using some other account for it, like local system og network service or something like that.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Apparently it only works if you choose the database name it suggests. Weird...
