Reverse DNS records do not match forward lookup records RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently started a new IT position with a company and I'm trying to do some cleanup.  The people before me attempted to utilize a linux DHCP server to hand out leases to windows machines and I believe in doing so it has messed up the reverse lookups.  We have disabled all DHCP and all machines are now using static IP addresses.  I've noticed on a lot of the reverse lookups they do not match the forward lookups (the forward lookups are correct, but the reverse lookups are not).  Is there a more formal way to remove these or can I simply delete them and if I do delete them will the correct reverse lookup be created the next time the timestamp is updated on the forward lookup?  Thanks in advance
