Ubuntu Linux Installation Problem RRS feed

  • Hello Everyone

I am having trouble installing a dual boot with Windows XP Home Premium 2003 and Ubuntu Linux 11.04. Whenever I try to launch the autoplay within Windows, Windows displays an error saying "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reistalling the application may fix this problem. I have also tried to boot from the disk on startup and have tweaked BIOS, but these are not remedies. Please help. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

I am not sure this installation would be achievable using Windows. My guess is that you do need to boot from CD before the native OS loads and set up your preferences.

I found an interesting link which documents the installation of Ubuntu and Windows XP in dual boot mode. It does document the process very well

    Link: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot

If you are unable to follow the link, my advice would be to find someone that understands Ubuntu and NTFS in dual boot mode.

    Best of luck with it.
