Why can't I publish my site all of a sudden? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been making updates to a SP site for months now by making changes to my custom workflow in Designer 2007 and then publishing it.

All of a sudden, today I'm getting the "Remote Web Site Properties" dialog box pop up when I make a change and click File->Publish site...

Can someone help as I need to get changes in asap.

  • Hi DaBatMan:

If you are directly connected with the Sharepoint site you want to published in Sharepoint Designer, you can only to edit and save your custom workflow.

By default,it will be automatically saved to your current Sharepoint site,no need to publish.

When you are not directly connected with the Sharepoint site, you can input the remote Sharepoint site’s url into Remote Web site localtion(Sufficient authority),and clike OK.

  • HI,

Restart your system and then check it once again.

  • Tried that today and still... nothing.

Something squirly is going on. I've contacted my IT department and they confirmed no chages have occurred on their side. However when I fired up Designer this monring to see if I could pulish to my team site  and non of my workflows are showing up.

    UPDATE:

My worklows mysteriously showed up again after about 20 minutes. I'm still not able to publish however. Clicking on File->Publish site... brings me here.

  • Thanks Lhan... that makes perfect sense. I had just got into the habbit of publishing after any change I made to my SP site so it threw me for a loop when I got the above message.

I'll check out the links as i'm still not sure why I started getting the above dialog box all of a sudden last week when when I try to publish to the site.  In any event, I've checked the emails that my workflow generates and just as you said all of those changes were updated without me actually publushing to the site.
