Help sending emails with OWA RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have to use OWA for government work. I had it more or less working. (More on that in a moment.) I could send and receive emails using my CAC for authentication. However, I couldn't read or send encrypted emails.

Fast forward to now. I can still receive emails, but I can't send emails. If I try to send an email a new window pops up and I can go through all the motions of getting an email ready to send. (Selecting recipient, typing email ect.) However, When I hit send it essentially ignores me. Nothing happens not errors etc. I think this may have started after an OS update. (Or that could just be in my head.)

So problem one is I need to be able to send emails again and I also need to get this encyrpted figured out.  I've never had encryption working on my personal computer.) I know my credentials on my CAC are good. When I go to government site I can send and receive encrypted. Just not on my personal laptop. I've tried installing the S/MIME but I'm not confident I'm doing it right. I download the control from withing options of OWA and then I click run after it downloads and nothing happens. (No confirmations etc.)
So, that's my two part question. Any ideas?

  • I should have added. I'm using IE for all of this. If I use EDGE I can still send and receive emails however, I don't see an option for the encrypted stuff. I primarily don't care what browser I use to get this job done, but I'm under impression that I can only use IE for the encrypted part. If that's not true I'm open to other suggestions.
