Consolidate Windows XP Updates? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a 9 year old PC with XP. I have to reload it and I was wondering if I could all the patchs/upgrades on a CD/DVD, as it would take forever to download them!!!  I tried to get an answer from a microsoft chat room, but after I explained my request for the second time, the chat room hung-up!!!!! Any ideas????

  • Apparently you can only request Service Pack 3 be sent to you via mail.  If you have an original CD you will have to download either Service Pack 1a or Service Pack 2 to bring your system up to the point where Service Pack 3 can be installed.  All updates after the release of Service Pack 3 will have to be obtained using Windows Update.
