Auto summary tool RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am a secondary social studies teacher and frequently used auto summary tools to create simpler versions of a complex test for students who have learning disabilities or are new English language learners.  This tool is no longer available in current MS Word. Does anyone know of any options, please?

  • Hi,

Auto summary was removed from Word 2010 and later version. Please find below reference links for the same.

  • Hi,

As Sarfarz said this feature has been removed from Word 2010, you can also refer to this article:

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Discontinued-features-and-modified-functionality-in-Word-2010-a078d9c5-9f22-449c-b8c9-fb0a772edc0a?CorrelationId=c0a5066c-4fb5-4cd8-9e5c-343b7e363092&ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US&ocmsassetID=HA101785405

AutoSummary    The AutoSummary feature, which listed the Title, Subject, Author, Keywords, and Comments, is not available in Word 2010. If you inserted an abstract into the document, the abstract will remain. If the document was saved in a summary view, it will be in a different view the next time you open it.

    Complex test or complex text?

In Word 2013 and above, you can collapse text below a certain heading level when you use the built-in headings.

(I never used the auto summary tool in earlier versions, sorry.)
