Project Server 2016 Cube failing to build - AMO RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I've installed and activated Project Server 2016 however, when building the cube it's failing due to AMO, I know in previous versions of Project Server I've had to install the 2008 AMO on the SQL server however this isn't working for PS2016. I've read that SQL Server 2014 may be required just for Analysis Services cube building, is this actually the case?

The system is Windows Server 2012R2, SQL Server 2012

Failed to build the OLAP cubes. Error: The attempt to build the OLAP database on server <SERVER NAME> failed, the SQL Server Analysis Services Analysis Management Objects (AMO) client software may not be installed on this server, please install/update the client on this server and retry. The underlying exception was: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.AnalysisServices, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

    Cheers,

    Oli
