archive file encryption RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would appreciate a technical description of the encryption method and underlying  philosophy for use of encryption of saved files.  I can not find any information in any of Windows Help files and wonder is there is any other intention other than merely encrypting the file for protection purposes.

    Thanks for any response.

  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7zip see the sections on encryption.. encryption within archiving software is a function of that software. I would check with whichever archive type you are using to see which encryptio types it can use.. Either way this probably isn't the best forum for this question as FCS is an AV product which doesn't really deal with crypto on archives.
