IE7 on xp32 bit vs. xp 64 bit machines - problem with https site on IIS 6 server 2003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We recently added a new cert to ne of our websites, let's call it https://project.mydomain.gov.

The website is running on a server 2003 sp2 box with IIS 6.

Under Authentication methods we have Enable anonymous access with the standard iusr_servername id and Integrated Windows Authentication.  Each user must login with their domain account to gain access to the site.

The server is on an AD domain and the users use their AD logins to gain access.

For Secure Communications we have require secure channel selected and require 128 bit encryptin.

    We also ignore client certificates.

When I access the website from a 32 bit xp workstation I receive the login prompt, enter my domain credentials and login ok.

When I perform the same check from a 64 bit xp workstation and try to access the website from either the 32 bit or 64 bit Internet Explorer 7 all I receive is the following message:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

I can install Firefox on the 64 bit machine and can access the website but we do not want to add any more software to our loads and want to keep things standard.

I would appreciate any guidance you all may have for me in advance.

    Best Regards,

    Fred Towery
