Errors in Event Log - Failure trying to synch web application RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

    I'm seeing the following Critical error in the event log on my Sharepoint 2010 server, on the hour, every hour. Event ID: 5555, Task Category: User Profiles.

    Failure trying to synch web application 63ef205e-06d7-4589-8414-c5bf321a939e, ContentDB 422c9d1d-dab3-4409-8dfd-ae8441a953d1  Exception message was System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The site with the id 69befeb2-edb8-4f61-9da5-bbf6e2318d10 could not be found.
       at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSite..ctor(Guid id, SPFarm farm, SPUrlZone zone, SPUserToken userToken)
       at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSite..ctor(Guid id)
       at Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.ContentDBSynchronizer.AddRemoveSites(String strFirstChangeToken, SPChangeToken lastChangeToken)
       at Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.ContentDBSynchronizer.SynchContentDB()
       at Microsoft.Office.Server.Diagnostics.FirstChanceHandler.ExceptionFilter(Boolean fRethrowException, TryBlock tryBlock, FilterBlock filter, CatchBlock catchBlock, FinallyBlock finallyBlock)
       at Microsoft.Office.Server.Diagnostics.ULS.SendWatsonOnExceptionTag(UInt32 tagID, ULSCatBase categoryID, String output, Boolean fRethrowException, TryBlock tryBlock, CatchBlock catchBlock, FinallyBlock finallyBlock)
       at Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.WSSProfileSyncJob.Execute()

    Now, I've identified the web application/ContentDB that is throwing this error, but I don't know anything about the missing site. I did find some mention of the following code being potentially able to help...

    stsadm -o sync -listolddatabase 0

    stsadm -o sync -deleteolddatabase 0

    Except that when I run -listolddatabase 0, all the GUID's that come up don't match the missing site GUID.

    Does anyone know how I might be able to find out more about the missing site, or clear out what reference exists of it such that the error won't come up anymore?

  • Hi,

    Try clearing config cache and try again. If you are using blob cache then clear that also.

    If these do not solve your issues then go for sharepoint configuration wizard.

    Thanks, Rahul Rashu

  • Thanks Rahul, I have now cleared the config cache according to this guide. Not using blob cache so that won't be necessary. I'll let you know how I go having cleared the cache.

  • Just an update on this - clearing the config cache has not resolved the issue. I haven't rerun the configuration wizard yet.

    Is there anything I should be wary of with running the configuration wizard? This would be on a production server so I'll need to schedule down-time if it's going to lock any databases, require a reboot etc.

  • Whoops - this is in the wrong forum. Do I need to repost it or can a moderator move it?

  • Just an update to all that this issue is no longer occurring. I'm trying to remember with the dates but I believe it stopped after I applied the June 2012 CU. This could have just been because I reran the SP config wizard as Rashu suggested.

    Thanks to Rashu for your comments.
