USB Mass Storage Controller - 60 Second Delay RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Vista 32 installed on my system. I have been trying to track down slow boot times and I have discovered the problem lies with the delay between creating the USB Mass Storage Device and the creation of the Disk Device. There is a 60 Second delay between these two events. It is easy to test this as I simply have the Device Manager window open and power cycle the external drive.

This matches the time delay from the Vista scrolling boot progress bar disapearing and the Vista Symbol appearing in the middle of the screen.

I have a Western Digital 2500JB MyBook external drive.

This did not happen with XP
