DPM leaving orphaned .VHD file after system state backup

Question
-
I'm experiencing a strange problem with DPM; after a system state backup there is an orphaned .vhd file in the C:\WindowsImageBackup folder. I've had a look through the DPM logs but nothing has stuck out as to why this file is being created but never deleted.
Microsoft System Center DPM 2010 Protection Agent 3.0.7707.0
Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (x86)
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi Peter,
This folder is not automatically cleared after the System State data is transferred to DPM server. It is only cleared right before a new system state backup is created. There is no need to clear it manually.

I should also mentioned that I've tried to uninstall the DPM client, reboot then reinstall the DPM client however the orphaned .vhd file remains.Thursday, May 16, 2013 1:39 AM

Thank you for clarifying that Yegor. Do you know if there is any Microsoft documentation that outlines that this behavior is by design?
