windows 7 service pack 1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • my notebook computer has automatically downloaded and installed service pack 1 for windows 7 64bit.  I would like to copy and save the download in case of future re-installation since the download is a large file and uses up a lot of my monthly internet bandwidth allowance.  can you please tell me where the file is stored on my computer?

  • You can download the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 from the following web address

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=c3202ce6-4056-4059-8a1b-3a9b77cdfdda

If you need only the 64 bit version, you have to download only the file named "windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe" (903.2 MB).
I think it's better to get the Service Pack this way because you'll download the full standalone installer, while Windows Update usually downloads only the necessary components, so the download size could be different in any situation according to the operating system state.

    Bye.
