  • Hello all...

Someone on the Hyper-V networking team might want to change this error message...…  I didn't bother looking, but I'm sure that I don't need to insert the disk into the drive and close the door.... :)

Status change (Nic Connected) sent to Nic 73108BFF-A1A3-4BE4-AF53-D6F747CC6D0D--5A0D679E-2EEC-45F8-BD4C-96401AA06818 (Friendly Name: xxxxxx.com) on port 97F21B97-4515-47C8-8105-844D82389416 (Friendly Name: fb4fb3d1-55eb-496d-a944-960671edb6fb) on switch D022A55E-B8ED-47E5-B311-099E886914E7 (Friendly Name: xxxxxxxxxxx). The drive is not ready for use; its door may be open. Please check drive %hs and make sure that a disk is inserted and that the drive door is closed.

  • What were you doing when the above error message occurred?  Did you issue a specific command?  Attempt a specific action?

  • Hi Tim....

This is taking place when the VM is being turned on or being migrated to a different host.  (The name of the VM is arbitrary… it is showing on all VMs when they boot up.)

    O/S:  Windows Server 2019 Core.

I'm not looking for a solution..... I'm simply amused by the message. :)

  • What is the configuration of the VM?  Is it trying to use a physical DVD on the host?  That could generate an error something like this.

  • I don't think there is anything special with the Hyper-V configuration.  There are definitely no DVD drives on the physical servers.  The only part worth mentioning is the network teaming which uses 4 physical NICs.
