    I have a WSUS server running on server 2008 R2 with an external SQL 2008 DB.

    I installed a new 2012 R2 server and installed WSUS which I want to use as a replica server before I decommission the 2008 server.

    If I try to configure WSUS on 2012, it fails post-configuration tasks. Should I point the new server to the existing database before I configure WSUS?

    What's the best way to migrate?

    I have seen those instructions, but I'm unsure about the DB part.

    My current WSUS server is pointing to an external SQL DB. How do I make the new server point to the existing DB?
