Project Server 2010 is an enterprise project management tool that allows an organization to manage dozens, hundreds, or thousands of projects, and allows an organization to manage dozens, hundreds, or thousands of resources.  In the Project Server system, project team members can report time and task progress in a web-based user interface called Project Web App. Project managers can review task updates in Project Server and then apply them to their projects without the need to manually type the progress.  All interested parties in a project can collaborate together in a special web site called the Project Site to manage risks, issues, documents, and deliverables associated with the project.

In the Project Server 2010 system, project managers and administrators used Microsoft Project Professional 2010 and Project Web App to do their work, while executives and team members use only Project Web App.  That is a very, very simple overview.  Does that help?  Also, you might want to consider taking a look at the following for a more in-depth overview of the software:

    http://www.microsoft.com/project/en/us/project-server-2010.aspx

    Hope this helps.
