Configure Distribution database gives me following error message. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All,

I am trying to configure Replication on my SQL Server 2008 R2 Dev X64 SP1. My PC is connected to domain and i have configure SQL Server/Agent Service account under domain account.

Now when i try to configure distribution database on my SQL Server via GUI or through below script i always get following error message.

    use master
    exec sp_adddistributor @distributor = N'NJOSHI3', @password = N''

    Msg 15119, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Password validation failed. The password does not meet the requirements of the password filter DLL.

even from GUI i got the following error message

    TITLE: Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo
    ------------------------------

SQL Server could not configure 'NJOSHI3' as a Distributor.

    ------------------------------
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)

    ------------------------------

Password validation failed. The password does not meet the requirements of the password filter DLL.
Changed database context to 'master'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15119)

    For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=10.50.2500&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=15119&LinkId=20476

    ------------------------------
    BUTTONS:

    OK
    ------------------------------

And when i try to create normal SQL Server user with simple password i was able to create it by ignoring complex password enforcement policy is there any way we can force SQL Server do not check for complex password.

    Please  help me on this

Many Thanks for your help on this.

  • Hi Hilary,

Many thanks for your time and reply on thread infact i messed up SQL Server i copied all the DB except (System) from Data folder from another machine and paste it new machine in order to attach DB.  What i noticed i copeid couple of certificate along with DB.

I am not sure that could be reason for Enforcement of Password Policy.

Many Thanks For your time and your valuable feedback.
