WSUS on 2012R2- Not updating Windows 10 Enterprise workstations RRS feed

  • Question

  • Morning,

Very, very frustrating!! Win7, Win 8.1, all others patching normally! Updating of Windows 10 workstations is sporadic at best, it seems! All 50+ of them show needing 4 or more updates but when checking from the workstations, the "checking for updates" just goes out to lunch, never finishes!! I look in the installed updates an it list hardly any updates installed! I see this msg in the client update logs continuously:

Unknown( 224): GUID=135e0cd5-c521-c1a4-83b6-a212dec33c42 (No Format Information found).

The number "224" changes but the msg is the same. Have the recommended updates installed on the wsus server!

Also, to get Win10 1511 to "upgrade" to 1607, do I need to enable "upgrades" in WSUS? If I do, will that not pull down "All Upgrades", not just those for Windows 10? Will that not make the database grow even larger?

    Thanks for your assistance!

    Tony

  • Hi Tony Strother,

    1. Have you installed KB3095113 and KB3159706 on the WSUS server to deploy updates for Win10, if not, please install them to upgrade the WSUS server. Note, after installing KB3159706, we need to do manual steps to finish the installation.

We need to check "upgrades" in classification, while when syncing, it only download metadata, only when we approve the upgrade files, will WSUS server download the upgrade file. If you want to release WSUS database, you may run server cleanup wizard frequently.
