  • Question

  • Is it possible to force automatic installation of anniversary update 1607?

Clients get update but have to click on "Install Upgrade".

    Other updates are installing automatically.

    Try setting a deadline.

  • Maybe it will work but as I understand deadline, it install and force reboot computer - which I dont want.

Ill try it on a test machine but I think must be some other way

I misunderstood what you were asking for...

You can force install an update without intervention, but it will eventually reboot (using deadline).

You can also, have the approval set but no deadline and the user can install it when they want.

No matter what though check your WSUS GPO settings verify they are set to allow what you desiring.

  • Hi rob307,

Just to check if you get any progress with the topic. What is the AU option do you set, could you provide a screenshot when the clients download 1607 upgrade.

I remember after downloading 1607 upgrade, it will install it automatically immediately, while since it's 1703 times, the memory is a little misty, if you still not figure it out, I'll test it again in my lab. Welcome to feedback.

    Best Regards,

    Anne

  • sorry for not answering

I gave up with 1607 but about two weeks ago I set deadline for 1703 with my test group and also dont know how to force installation.

Upgrade is ready but "a restart is required to finish installing the following updates" and users have choice when shuting down:

    update and shutdown

    shutdown

    update and restart

    restart

Choice is not always good - about 40% of users upgraded to 1703
