We've been using SCCM 2012 within our school since July 2012 - Win Server 2008 R2, Win7 Enterprise 64bit clients exclusively.
On occasion we've had need to rebuild a computer (failed OS for example) and have used the same computer name that these computers originally had. For some reason we have not been able to work out, SCCM is not picking up the computer after the rebuild.
The SCCM client is not getting installed, yet the AD membership is fine - GPO's are applying as expected and user logins etc. are also working correctly.
If we do a manual install of the client, it does go on, however it never picks up any allocated applications/updates etc. We can leave it for weeks and still nothing.
We also tried deleting the computer from the AD and SCCM before rebuilding but this has so far made no difference either.
New computers work as expected, so we're not entirely sure what the issue may be, nor where we can start looking to try and resolve this issue.
