Connect to menu item and tray icon issues RRS feed

  • I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
    I am having a consistent issue with the connect to (VPN list).

    I click on the icon in the system tray and nothing happens.
    I click on "Connect to" in the start menu and nothing happens.

    I start working on other things for a while and all of a sudden my VPN list pops up above the system tray.
    I have also tried waiting and doing nothing, and it takes at least 60 seconds to open.
    I have 45 VPN connections. 

    Once the connection list finally opens,  I have to reboot the PC or log off (and on) to reproduce this behavior.

    I need a resolution that does not involve reducing the number of VPNs in the list.

    When does the issue begin to happen? if it just began to happen recently, you can try system restore.

    I think it may take long time to open them. You can test in a new account to check if the issue still occur. In addition, you can try to boot your computer in Safe mode with networking to test if the you can open VPN list via clicking "Connect to" or Network icon. If your machine works fine in the safe mode, please test in Clean Boot, you can refer to KB929135.
