  • In place upgrade from Windows Server 2003 (or 2003R2) to Windows Server 2012 is not supported.

    Just in case... upgrade from 2003R2 (32 bits) to Windows Server 2008R2 is not supported.

  • Hi,

    What am I missing here?
    According to the MS site it is supported:

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd979563(v=ws.10).aspx

    2003 r2 => 2008 r2 => 2012 r2

  • You can upgrade from Windows Server 2003 SP2, R2 to Windows Server 2008 R2. Then you can upgrade to Windows Server 2012 R2. However, the important point is that there is no upgrade path from 32-bit to 64-bit, and Windows Server 2012 is only available in 64-bit.

    Also, it is generally recommended to perform an fresh install rather than an upgrade, at least if this is a domain controller.
